My fascination with photography began with this single photograph.

THE photograph

This photograph is of me as a child jumping on an inflatable castle at a street carnival.    The photograph displays beautiful streaks of colour, caused by the combination of movement and a slow shutter speed. This is where my obsession with photography began. As a child, this photograph absolutely fascinated me. I could not comprehend how one could take a photograph of something that I could not see with my own eyes. Until then my understanding of a photograph was that it was an a way to capture the world exactly how it was and preserve it as an image.  This was something different. For me this was nothing short of magic. This single photograph invoked a life long a obsession of photography. I had to understand photography to harness it’s magical powers.  I started reading film photography books I had found in my dad’s room. I was too young to comprehend exposure and the “math” behind it, yet photographs spoke to me. I didn’t need to understand the math, because I understood the feelings in which images gave me. After years of photographing, I cannot see this obsession going away anytime soon. Photography has and will always be huge part of my life.
